*Please note this retreat includes shared lodging. No matter if you book a private room or loft room you will be sharing a common lodge space and bathrooms with the other retreat guests. If you are not comfortable sharing a space then this is not the retreat for you. All yoga sessions will be outside unless weather impedes our practice in which case we will practice in the lodge. If you do not feel comfortable sharing your space then another retreat would be better suited for you. No refunds given if participant signs up then decides they do not feel comfortable in a group setting*********
Step off your mat and into the wild on this retreat set at 11k above sea level.
Most of us have a hard time disconnecting from our cell phones and computers on a day to day basis. This retreat is designed for you to break away from the ordinary and connect with nature and your truest self. Set in the heart of the San Juan Mountains, we'll take four nights and five days away from the stresses of daily life to allow ourselves time to reset.
The lodge features a spacious yoga deck for mat placement with our backdrop being the gorgeous Red Mountain #3 you'll have the option to summit. There's also opportunity for walking meditations and star gazing.
This will be my third yoga adventure retreat at the Red Mountain Alpine Lodge
which is a beautiful, brand new custom timber frame lodge located at 11,000feet on Red Mountain Pass. The cute little small town of Ouray is 20 minutes to the North and Silverton is 15 minutes to the south making the positioning of our retreat both convenient and remote. Located conveniently only 300 yards from Highway 550 just at the base of Red Mountain #3, we will have access to some of the best hiking Colorado has to offer.
Hiking options include:
Hiking to the top of Red Mountain #3
Hike the Powerline, Putney, MacMillan Loop
Run to Telluride on the Black Bear Pass Road
Hike to Richmond Basin via Commodore and Spirit Gulches
The 3,2,1, Traverse to Ironton
Hike to the Opus Hut on Ophir Pass via Mineral and Porphyry Gulches
I'll also be offering a day trip hike to Red #3 and you'll have the option to join us on the newly placed Ouray Via Ferrata with the San Juan Mountain Guides on our Friday free day. If you choose not to participate in the Via Ferrata you can cruise into Silverton or Ouray for hot springs and shopping.
Leave your worries and bring your hiking boots, there will be no shortage of adventure at this retreat!
*Please note all payments are final. No refunds given on deposits. No exceptions. You have the option to purchase trip insurance upon booking, however, if you decide to opt out of the retreat for any reason, no refunds are given. You may transfer your trip to another guest if you find someone to take your spot for a $90 transfer fee but I am under no obligation to find a replacement for you. In the case of a force major you will be given a credit good for two years and applicable to any yogi Magee Expedition***
This brand new, premium off-grid timber frame lodge offers amenities galore. There are three private rooms and a large loft. There's four flushing toilets, three showers and 3 vanities, radiant in floor heat, a large living room and dining area and plenty of space to cozy up to read a book.
Breakfasts and dinners are included during your stay as well as an afternoon soup/appetizer. A licensed on-site tavern is available and will offer a great selection of local on-tap beers as well as wine and spirits.
Rooms:
There are three private rooms on the main level each of which includes a queen bed and a loft above with two twin beds. The other lodging option is the upstairs loft with partitioned twin beds and privacy curtains. Participants will be placed based on roommate requests and availability.
Please note that even if booking a private room this is shared lodging. If you are a very sensitive sleeper, do not like sharing your space with others, or get bothered by roommates this may not be the retreat for you.
You will be sleeping at 11k so if altitude isn't your thing or you get altitude sick then this retreat is not for you.
Can we bring our own alcohol? --Because the lodge is a licensed tavern, Colorado Law prohibits its patrons from bringing their own alcoholic beverages to the hut. However, when hiking, trail ales will be provided courtesy of my sponsor Denver Beer Co.
Where can I park? -- In the summer you can drive right to and park at the lodge.
Is there cellular signal, WiFi, and internet access? -- I hope you enjoy your stay more than your smart phone! There is no cellular service at the hut but WiFi is available should you need it and a house phone in case you need to call home.
Is there running water, showers, and flushing toilets? -- There is running water that is safe and clean for drinking and there is three hot showers and 4 flushing toilets.
What if I have dietary restrictions? -- The kitchen is please to accommodate dietary needs and requests. If you have nutritional requirements or allergies please specify upon booking. Please note that I typically do not request Vegan dinners as they are an uncharge in pricing so if you are looking for an entirely vegan food experience all requests may not be met and you are welcome to bring your own food or this may not be the retreat for you.
Updated Booking Terms and Conditions due to COVID-19:
Given the unprecedented impact of COVID-19, I have been adapting my booking conditions and cancellation policy regularly in response to evolving nature of the situation. The scale of the pandemic has yet to be understood and I am trying to communicate any changes to these terms as quickly as I can in order to be transparent with customers. Please message me if you have any specific questions on programming. I try and protect my intellectual property as much as possible from those wishing to copycat my retreats by not releasing a specific schedule but to retreat attendees. I also schedule my retreats based on the alternative activities my guests choose. For example if everyone wants to horseback ride and do the Via Ferrata then we will schedule on two different days. If not everyone wants to do either activity I will schedule accordingly.
San Juan Mountain Guides is proud to introduce the brand new Ouray Via Ferrata (OVF)! Constructed by a world-class team of climbers, guides, engineers, and rigging professionals, the route winds its way through the incomparable Uncompahgre Gorge. Located on the opposite side of the canyon from the renowned Ouray Ice Park, the route features over 4000′ of climbing and traversing – at times just feet from the roaring Uncompahgre River!
This is a technical Via Ferrata and is rated 4b on the Fletcher/Smith Italian VF Rating System. The Telluride Via Ferrata (TVF) by comparison is rated 2b on the same rating scale. The route offers participants the unique ability to experience the gorge in an inspiring setting. Featured sections such as the “Stairway to Heaven” offer substantial vertical climbing, technical traverses on rock ledges, and two bridge crossings over the river including “The Skyladder” – the first of its kind in North America. The newly opened “Sky Climb” offers a challenging finish to the route and is a must-do for those who have already experienced the OVF on a previous trip.
