      About this trip

      Sample fresh seafood, learn about sustainable reefnetting at the Salish Center, and tour diversified Full Bloom Farm on this 8.5-mile scenic route highlighting Sustainable Connection’s Farm to Table Trail on Lummi Island. Tour is 4 hours long and includes a beach picnic and workshop on indigenous fishing methods from local experts. Participants will catch the 11:10am ferry from Gooseberry Point to Lummi Island and will return to the mainland on the 3pm ferry. Bring your own bike, or ask us for bike rental shop recommendations.

      Stops along our way: 

      o Legoe Bay Reefnetter Food Truck: Serving Salish Sea fish and chips, reefnet salmon, spot prawns, and Pike Place Chowders. 

      o Beach Store Cafe: Cozy café serving fresh and seasonal menu options with local seafood and Detroit style pizza.

      o Full Bloom Farm: Diversified family farm specializing in organically grown peonies, award-winning gardens, perennials, produce and fresh eggs.

      o Salish Center on Legoe Bay Beach: Organization advocating for the protection and restoration of the Salish Sea, encouraging the viability and expansion of reefnet fishing and sustainable fishing practices. 


      Tour Details and Logistics

      o Participants will take the 11:10am ferry to Lummi Island from Gooseberry Point. We recommend arriving to Gooseberry Point at 10:50am to park your car and prepare to walk onto the ferry with your bike. It is $8 round-trip to walk on the ferry with your bike (ferry fare not included in trip price). Round-trip fares are collected during the short 5-minute passage to the island. 

      o Your guide(s) will meet you at the Lummi Ferry dock upon your arrival at 11:15am. 

      o Tour is 8.5 miles with 580 feet of elevation gain.

      o Tour is appropriate for teens and adults (teens under 18 must be accompanied by an adult)

      o Babies and toddlers in bikeseats can ride along for free

      o Learn about the fragility of the Salish Sea and important conservation efforts to protect salmon and orca populations
