If you have not experienced a retreat led by the Wahe Crew, then you don't know what you are MISSING! Andrea and Baby D curate the most inclusive, cozy space for amazing people to come together and share nourishing food, experience all forms of yoga and breath work, as well as enough down time to explore the wonderful little town of Truth or Consequences. The onsite hot springs, open and available to retreaters 24/7, are open air with views of the stars alongside the roaring fire pit, cacti, and cool breezes. There are two retreats at Glamp Camp each year as well as a trip to Oaxaca, Mexico so mark your calendars and treat yourself to a fantastic experience with special people!

The Oxacan Yoga Retreat and Adventure week with Andrea Allen and Baby D was rich with yoga, culture, and spirit. Our leaders attuned themselves to our group to establish an extraordinary sense of safety and intimacy. We practiced yoga daily, with the excellent guidance of our two instructors. Our teachers’ styles complemented each other perfectly. We met and stayed at Hotel con Corazon, a comfortable and centrally located boutique hotel with lovely breakfasts. We were given time to explore on our own or in small groups as well as escorted to restaurants, and plazas and cathedrals. We found museums, fun stalls in the plazas, and neighborhoods decorated with colorful flags. We marveled at the murals and art everywhere. The food was also a highlight, wonderful mole and exquisite combinations of veggies and meat, and of course tortillas--the distinct cuisine of Oaxaca. One night, we went to a chef’s house where he prepared a feast of Oxacan food for us. We ate it looking down on the twinkling city lights. Another night, we went to the restaurant, Calabacitas Tiernas, and shared all kinds of great food and listened to music from the region. Musicians played special guitars and a percussionist played a cow’s jaw bone, among other things. Amazing music, joyful and full of heart. Much whistling and applause after the spirited songs. The joy was contagious. Our guide, the wonderful Samuel, spent a day with us at the ruins of Monte Alban, an ancient and sacred mountain top. That afternoon we headed out to the village of Teotitlán del Valle, a small and lovely setting out among the mountains. There we settled into our rooms and relaxed, did yoga, and learned about the beautiful wool rugs for which the village is renown. I opted to learn to weave. Such patience my teachers had! Such kindness! And by the end, I had a satisfying little rug and the deep pleasure of working a loom, getting the rhythm of it. This entire trip was a fabulous way to encounter Oaxaca and its surroundings, plus do powerful yoga in a dreamy setting. What a wonderful time we had!
