We booked the Soulrocker experience as a bucket list trip for my wife’s 50th birthday. The opportunity to do daily Yoga, listen to Michael Franti and get back to Ubud were the exciting draw cards.
As we have young kids, high end hotels are a rare treat. Soulshine was the best hotel/resort we have ever stayed at. From the moment we entered the oasis, we were blown away by how beautiful everything was. Our Panarama room was huge and luxurious and much better than the website photos.
The breakfasts and dinners were also amazing as were the kind and attentive staff (particularly Roy and apologetically I can’t remember the name of young lovely house staff member on at brekky).
The bars and pools were stunning overlooking the rice fields and gentle cliff down to the river.
We were surprised to find that we were some of the younger guests (we are 53 and 50) and also that a vast majority of the guests were from the US. We are Aussies and given that Michael is reasonably well known in Australia and the close proximity of Bali, we expected more guests from down under.
Every music session was amazing. Michael, Ragu and Carl etc didn’t miss a beat from the acoustic and stage sets and being able to be so intimately entertained was unforgettable.
We found Gina’s Yoga sessions quite comfortable and a little easier to what we are used to but expect these were pitched appropriately to the cohort. She was very entertaining too.
What we didn’t know a lot about before we went were the ‘Soul Circles’ where we were broken into groups of around 20 and given a chance to ‘share’ each morning in line with a different mental health/personal issue theme of the day. We found this pretty eye opening whilst at the same time, never boring. We only chose to ‘share’ once each for the week. Despite visiting the States, we had never felt such a cultural difference in the way we and o few of the other South Pacific guests participated compared to a good percentage of the American guests. Definitely not a criticism, just an observation. What we didn’t feel super comfortable with was when we witnessed some very emotional people share their stories and then not have a qualified psychologist in attendance just in case. In fact, when my wife did cautiously share her current significant health condition, we both felt kind of hollow that there was no follow up to see if she was alright afterwards. The concern only came from a few of the other quests and no staff member after the session.
All in all it was an amazingly unique and unforgettable week. Michael is a class act and amazing musician, Sara very entertaining and an excellent Karaoke and Music Trivia host, Gina equally entertaining (just add some more music questions from somewhere other than the US next time) and an excellent and inclusive Yoga instructor. Thank you to everyone for putting together our Soulrocker experience, we will be talking about it for years to come!
Unmatched on so many levels. Soulshine Bali is a beautiful and relaxing place to just take a step back and breath. The accommodations are excellent, the food is wonderful. But, its the Soulshine staff that make it feel home and wishing to return to catch up with the staff who became your friends almost overnight.
Wow, wow, wow! I am so grateful to have had the chance to experience this. Pure MAGIC from start to finish. From the moment you arrive you notice and feel lighter in every way. This is a beautiful place created by the Franti's where every detail is considered. If you love the music, come here. If you need to explore yourself and want change, come here. If you want to share an awesome experience with like minded people, definitely come here. And the list goes on. Oh, and by the way food is amazing, accommodations are perfect, and the music is over the top. Thanks for all! I will be back!

M wife and I have traveled all over the world and I write a lot of review when I’m happy. I can honestly say that I have never paid for a better all around experience than Soulshine Soul Rockers Retreat. I’ve never made that claim in a review before. This was truly an epic lifetime highlight, and we can go back and do it again. We knew there was going to be a lot of live music, and the music experience exceeded our expectations. I knew I was going to have the opportunity to do Yoga each morning and Gina Caputo led classes I was able to participate in, while still challenging my wife who has had a practice for a long time. In only a week, I got better at Yoga and that translates to more mobility and. strength, and less body pain. Im 63 years old. One week with Gina showed me I will benefit greatly from Yoga. The food was amazing, with exceptionally healthy and delicious menu options, as well as other options, all delicious. I believe the resort capacity is only 70 people, and I know they have about 100 employees., this makes for outstanding service. When you factor in the Balinese culture, the result is the MOST friendly and helpful, guest service. By the end of day 2, every staff member was greeting me all day long by my name. Including some I really thought I’d never seen before. The Culture part is they do everything from Love. Always happy, smiling, and in service. We cannot wait to come back.
Hi,
We are a family of 4, our children age 11 and 10. Is there space available for the November 2022 Yoga and Music retreat?
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.
