Dev and her team absolutely crushed the trip planning and execution for our two week trip to Greece in June, 2024. We spent a few days in Athens, then Naxos (with a day trip to Sifnos), Milos, and Crete . We outlined for Dev that for a trip where we are taking our adult-ish kids, we want a mix of steady explorative and historical activity, along with a little down time here and there for the kids. And, the opportunity for the two of us to remain active and explore while the kids took their downtime. We also asked for locations that were higher-end but not has high-end as when the two of us travel, with separate rooms for us and them, and so on. We also asked for locations that were slightly off the beaten path, in other words islands that are not overrun with parties or excessive tourism. Spot-on all the way. Additionally, we made a couple pivots on restaurants, car rentals, flights vs. ferries, and a few other items. Dev and her team immediately handled with grace and openness to help us as we learned and discovered. This is the second trip using Dev and her team. (First was a magnificent trip for the two of us to Portugal.). We WILL partner with Dev again!

This trip through the Basque region had everything: beautiful beaches, lush scenery, history, delicious food, outdoor activities, knowledgeable and friendly guides, wine culture, local flavor, and unique experiences (running with the bull and a bullfight). Every hotel was very comfortable (even iconic in some instances) and well-located. We experienced great service by the drivers and all the people we encountered, Not a darn thing I would change. Our travel agent (Devaki Das at Weave a Thousand Journeys) simply nailed exactly what we wanted. Our local support person was attentive and responsive and made changes along the way to enhance the trip. Here is a little more detail: 1) San Sebastian-we met our guide the morning we arrived and she immediately whisked us off to a local cider house where we experienced the unique way of drinking cider and the traditional accompanying meal. The next day we kayaked the beautiful bay and toured the harbor island of Santa Clara and went to two sandy beaches in the city. The following day we toured local seacoast towns dining in a "locals" seafood place known to our guide and getting a private tour of a vineyard owned by her good friend. We had the opportunity to eat at a Michelin three-star restaurant (our first time). We were then treated to a history and food walking tour, and sampled our guide's favorite pintxos and drinks at places where she knew the owners. We finished this leg of the trip with a sail boat trip. 2) Pamplona is a feast for the senses. The excitement and traditions of the Festival of San Fermin were wondrous to behold (the running of the bulls, bullfight, the fireworks, the universal dress code of red and white, and the boisterous street scene all day and night). 3) Logrono-in the heart of La Rioja, but with its own old city and pintxos scene. On our way there, we stopped at a great restaurant known to Devaki and enjoyed a delicious lunch of local food in a rustic farmhouse. Our guide in Logrono, was so much fun and took us to the places the locals go and we sampled the exotic food offerings (including pigs ears and oxtail). The next day, she took us to ancient monasteries and a truly unique winery where they experiment with novel ways to make wine. We also dined for lunch in a small village with a multi-course gourmet menu. The following day, we toured wine country and had private tours of two beautiful vineyards and their sub-terranean wine cellars with a different guide, and another delightful lunch at restaurant hand-picked by Devaki. 4) Bilbao is a former gritty manufacturing town that has been transformed into a modern and attractive tourist destination, anchored by the Guggenheim Museum designed by Frank Gehry. Yet again, Devaki arranged for a local tour guide to show us the spots the locals know in the old town. Our last day was a bike tour of the city and a guided tour of the Guggenheim and a Basque cooking class by a hugely entertaining chef.

This was my first experience with Dev and WATJ. To say that this trip exceeded all expectations would be an understatement. Her attention to detail, her procurement of unique and extraordinary experiences, and her ability to bring a once in a lifetime experience to our group was truly remarkable.
