About this trip

5 Day Salkantay Trek to Machupicchu By Glamping in Sky Dome to Dome (Top-Selling) – Group Service.

(Exploring Humantay Lake and Hiking on Original Inca Trail to LLactapata Incan Site) Where you will see Machupicchu. A great Alternative Salkantay Trek to Machupicchu by Hiking and glamping in Eco Sky Dome National Geographic Adventure Magazine rated the Salkantay trek as one for the 25 Best Treks in the World. Mount Salkantay (or Nevado Salkantay / Salcantay) is one of the most iconic mountains in the Cusco region and the highest mountain on the Vilcabamba Mountain range.

Hikkers on the Salkantay trail spend a day approaching the mountain from the south and then another day in close proximity to the mountain as they scale the Salkantay Pass, which at 4,600m provides amazing views into the valley below. Salkantay trek of 4 days and 3 nights is a great adventure that will allow you to appreciate Andean and lush green mountains (Cloud forest), streams, rivers and hot springs that will help you relax your body after the physically taxing walk. You can also feel the temperature change along the hiking mountain paths of the tour of Salkantay. You can also enjoy some snow in one of the highest points of the road, 4,630 mts/15, 228 feet above sea level. Finally, the last day (the fifth day) you will enjoy the Grand tour of Machu Picchu City.

AMAZING time on this ATV tour. It started with a quick lesson on the quads and then a drive through town to see to Morays. After that, we had transportation to the Salt Museum and then the Salt Mines. It was a great way to explore these two sites!

Machupicchu and Aguas Calientes is a great, once in a lifetime trip! However, we strongly advise booking with a different travel company. We encountered several administrative mistakes from this company, including many things advertised in the package on their website that were either misrepresented or never delivered. They messed up our tickets getting into the Machupicchu trail and gave us tickets with different people's information causing a 2.5 hour delay that the guide has to sort out. When this was brought to their attention they denied responsibility and blamed it on other issues when it was very very clearly their administrative issue (they handed us the envelope with the tickets in them and neglected to double check they were correct the day before we embarked on the trek). They also did not arrange the private transportation that we purchased in the package from Ollantaytambo station after the trek back the hotel. They again denied responsibility for this and argued with us trying to claim that that wasn't included in what we purchased. We were stuffed into a public car with other people which was an uncomfortable experience and it was very clear the company neglected to arrange the taxi for us beforehand. We had to send them screenshots of the package advertised on their website detailing what was included in the package we bought that clearly said private transportation for this leg of the trip. Most of the experience was good but these were 2 huge issues that we do not think is acceptable for a travel company that deals with Machupicchu travelers daily should be having. Additionally, our experience in dealing with them afterwards was not great as they would not communicate with us for several days and would deny responsibility for what happened. After agreeing to compensate us with a partial refund, I had to follow up and remind them for weeks to send the refund they offered us and agreed on.

Great tour company! Transportation and pick up was easy. The sky dome's were beautiful, clean, and spacious. My husband is 6.6 feet tall and had a lot of room to walk around. Great view of the mountains. So grateful our dome had a private shower! Ronaldo was a great tour guide, and always made sure we were happy and feeling well. The cook made delicious soups, gave us big portions, and offered a variety of things to eat. Could not have asked for a better experience and would recommend to all.

Great adventure! we had an amazing tour guide Berly, who is from Cusco and he shared with us not only knowledge but also traditions along the Inca trail. Packed lunch was great as well as accommodation. Really worth it, had a blast!

I can’t say it fully lived up to expectations. The 5pm pre-hike meeting didn’t provided enough info to not be a WhatsApp call or email, and was at a sorta inconvenient time/place. The lunch provided was fine, but being given a pretty big volume/weight of stuff to carry (which i did not eat all of, and took basically back to Cusco) was kind of annoying. The guide was decent, although tough to understand and with a quite flat affect for a tour guide. We had a much more engaging guide at our other hike to Rainbow mountain. The hike was good, fairly challenging, and very pretty. Seeing Machupicchu was cool, but didn’t do enough research to realize we wouldn’t get to walk around the site at all. The train was booked for 6:20pm and we finished the hike around 2pm - so plenty of time to do so. We then had to kill 4 hours in Aguas Calientes (town at the bottom of the mountain) after the guide left us. Value for money was somewhat questionable, I can account for about $200/person or so for tickets/taxis/trains/food. I’d recommend doing a 2 day / 1 night at a minimum
