This is not your typical yoga retreat. Join post-lineage Collective Rest guides for a journey into healing, indulgence, and ancestral repair.
The end of the year is what the Celts knew as on the back end of giamos. We have just exited the winter solstice and experienced the longest night and are just on the cusp of a tangible shift towards equinox. This darkness creates a metaphorical and literal moment when what is in front of us is obscured causing us to live in the inbetween - inbetween the visible and invisible worlds, past/present/future, here and there. This threshold begs us to mine its wisdom so that new realities can be created and brought forth into the light. This retreat is an embrace of the inbetween, of liminal space, and holding the discomfort that arises in the unknown while engaging in radical imagining of what could be. It is an exploration of the hard and soft edges that have been created in the geography, culture, and self, compelling us to examine their impact in our lives and our ancestors' lives.
The indigenous heritage of Spain includes that of the Celts, the Iberians, and other nomadic groups. Its complicated history is colored by Romanization and Christianity, Africanization and Islam, colonization, literature and Judaism.
Spain offers physical locations with complex histories that produce palpable aftershocks both in the metaphysical sense when you are visiting and in a literal sense in world history. All too often, we focus on the physical and literal spaces, missing the wisdom and healing offered by tapping into the land that has seen and persists despite these histories. Somatic practices, yoga nidra, and rest in and out of affinity group sessions offer portals through which we can tap into the wisdom that sits in these places, metabolize how they are imprinted on our DNA, and imagine what it looks like to live without the weight and scars. Just as the inbetween reminds of reality as existing beyond binary thought, this retreat is not a somber descent into ancestral healing. Instead, somatic abolition leads us to collective liberation and pure joy where we celebrate the connection and resilience of peoples by indulging the fabulous food, drink, and artistic expressions of this complex and beautiful country.
This experience is for the adventurer who wants to explore yoga beyond shapes, and desires applying yoga philosophy and somatic practices to cultivate embodiment, abolition and generational healing.
That is, this trip is for the yogi with a nomadic, intercultural spirit who's a little nerdy; the thinker that understands the interconnected nature of the awe, beauty, and pain of places like these; and the seeker who embraces deeper awareness and healing for themselves and others.
